Abstract

As the value of knowledge has been recognized, the importance of knowledge sharing and learning has attracted more and more attention in the age of knowledge economy. With the rapid development of information technology and internet, E-learning has become one of the promising learning models. Applying e-learning, we can not only improve knowledge sharing and reusing but also break through the restrictions of time and space, go on long distance and asynchronous learning. This thesis aims to promote the effectiveness of e-learning through adaptive and dynamic learning based on concept learning for human knowledge development. A domain ontology is developed as a basis to provide adaptive content and presentation to learners. In addition, a dynamic planning algorithm is proposed to adjust learning map to help learners achieve learning goals in limited time without getting lost in overwhelming knowledge and cognitive over loading. The objective of this thesis is to develop an ontology-based adaptive and dynamic concept learning mechanism so as to promote the effectiveness of e-learning. The objective can be obtained by:(1) designing an adaptive and dynamic concept learning model based on theories of adaptive learning and e-learning; (2) designing a learner model according to individual’s adaptive requirements; (3) designing a knowledge map through knowledge analyzing; (4) developing a learning map in consideration of content presentation; and (5) designing an adaptive and dynamic concept learning map planning algorithm to plan and adjust learning map.
